Join us for the bioregional event of the year! r33
What is the first thing you remember building as a child?
Think back to that treehouse, that snow fort, that backyard kingdom. There was no red tape, fear or insecurity. As children we were limited only by the depth of our imaginations and the extent of our curiosity.
Groundswell is an evening celebration for those who never lost that child-like sense of possibility. It’s our night to recognize Cascadia’s boldest green building leaders, dreamers, provocateurs and innovators. At Science World in Vancouver, BC, we’ll explore interactive exhibits that come alive with the physics of light, water and sound. We'll also enjoy fine food and drink, lively entertainment and great company.
Joins us for Groundswell on September 26th. Celebrate our bioregion’s fellow change-makers, make new connections and reunite with your inner child.
Nominate Outstanding Collaborative Leaders
All Cascadia members are invited to nominate individuals for the 2014 leadership awards, which will be announced at Groundswell: Public Sector Employee, Collaborative Emerging Professional / Emerging Green Builder and Collaborative Volunteer. Please submit your nominations before August 1, 2014.Read more: Join us for Groundswell: a celebration for Cascadia's young at heart.

Journalist and author Alison Weir tours Vancouver Island July 28 and July 29
Author, journalist and public affairs campaigner Alison Weir will speak on Vancouver Island on July 28 and 29 about the origins of the pro-Israeli bias among Western governments and media.
Her new book, Against Our Better Judgment: How the US was used to create Israel, uses meticulously sourced evidence to show how the US was manipulated into backing the creation of a Jewish state in the Middle East.
Weir is the founder and executive director of If Americans Knew, an organization that focuses on the Middle East and US foreign policy towards it. The organization documents how US policy consistently favours Israel, resulting in considerable financial and military aid to the state of Israel, at great cost to Americans.
Against Our Better Judgment brings to light startling new evidence...

Did you know that the Campus Community Garden is now home to its very own apiary? The honeybee colonies, installed in the spring, provide numerous benefits to the community and the surrounding environment by creating an opportunity for university and elementary classes to deepen their understanding of bees, as well as boosting the vitality of the community garden and surrounding areas through increased pollination. Read about it in the Victoria News article.

From Gaza with Pain (and dignity)

It is hard not to cry watching the unfolding horror show in Gaza, children
with heads blown off, pregnant woman with body torn by a shell, babies with
missing limbs, targeting of playing children, targeting hospitals,
targeting ambulances, and even a handicap center killing two handicap
children. Israeli forces then ratcheted up their attacks committing large
scale massacres in places like Shujaia and Beit Hanoun. 80% of the victims
are elderly, women and Children (over 110 children so far). Though
mainstream western media self-sensors to comply with the Zionist lobby, the
truth is coming out and the videos and pictures are horrific. Our friends
in Gaza issue desperate calls to us. Israel cannot absolve itself by saying
we asked people to evacuate (100,000 are homeless already). Forcing people
out of...
