PAOV- Code of Conduct - Citizens Press is an open platform for expression on all the issues that concerns the People’s Assembly of Victoria and the global occupy movements, it is the responsibility of the contributors to uphold the code of conduct.

Our values are inclusivity, empowerment, awareness, creativity, community, diversity and respect. 

We will remove posts that have been reported and determined as are derogatory, intolerant, racist, sexist, intentionally malicious, bigotry and overtly counterproductive.

Removed posts will be given the opportunity to edit, resubmit and meet our code of conduct. 

Hold Israel accountable for Gaza massacre



Dear BDS supporter,
A month has now passed since the end of Israel’s massacre of the besieged population of Gaza. Gaza may no longer be on our TV screens, but the medieval siege remains in place and Israel appears more determined than ever to press on with the expansion of its illegal Israeli settlements. As civil society organisations in Gaza have said, there is now a battle underway to ensure that Israel is held to account. The outcome of this battle will determine whether Israel’s latest assault will be yet another stage in Israel’s incremental genocide” of Palestinians or the turning point that will bring an end to Israel’s status as an entity above the law. The outcome of this battle depends on you. Palestinians everywhere were inspired by the international outpouring of support for Palestine during the Gaza massacre. The Office of Campus Planning & Sustainability is pleased to announce two new sustainability initiatives designed to highlight campus sustainability:

Campus Sustainability Photo Contest – What does campus sustainability mean to you? Open to all students and employees, photos should be submitted by Oct 1st under one of these three themes:

Wonders – What about our campus is unique and awes and inspires you?

Challenges – What are the challenges to long-term sustainability on campus as you see them?

Solutions – What features or initiatives on campus best demonstrate solutions to sustainability challenges?

What was reportedly the largest climate march in history happened yesterday in New York City with between 300,000 and 400,000 participating, with local events happening at the same time in cities all over the world including Vancouver. The march was organized to show policy-makers that people around the world are deeply concerned about climate change and are demanding leadership at all levels of government. On Tuesday 120 world leaders, including US President Barak Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron, begin the next round of climate talks at the UN. Prime Minster Stephen Harper has declined an invitation to attend.

Social Justice Studies is co-sponsoring a conference on family and child poverty entitled From Charity to Social Justice: Addressing Child and Family Poverty on the evening of Thursday, October 2nd and during the day on Friday, October 3rd. The conference is free and open to the public, but you are encouraged to register ahead of time so that we are sure that we have enough lunch, refreshments and handouts for everyone (see the attached poster).

Also, the SJS Annual Lecture will take place on October 27th at 7:00 p.m. We are really excited to announce that our guest speaker will be Harsha Walia. The poster will be available shortly. Please keep the evening open.
