Killing TWICE as many bees

A,
Billions of bees are dying -- and the EU just reapproved a bee-killing pesticide for another 7 years...even though it pledged to phase it out!
Over 20% of bee species threatened with extinction are native to Europe -- and it's frightening to imagine the devastation another 7 years of this pesticide would cause.
But thanks to a new law, people like you and me and NGOs can now challenge pesticide approvals in the EU’s supreme court. If we win, we could force the EU to ban this pesticide for good.
Our partners at PAN Europe are ready to go to court -- but they need money to fund the case. If we all chip in just a small amount, we can power their case and keep campaigning to save the bees, before it’s too late.
A, can you chip in to save the bees?
We are almost there!

Bolsonaro's dream is our worst nightmare
- Details

A,
Far right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro says it's his "dream" to crack open the Amazon.
And he's pushing legislation to make his dream come true -- opening the rainforest to out-of-control mining and expelling Indigenous peoples from their ancestral lands to make it happen.
These hideous bills could be voted on any day now -- we need an urgent, all-out push to stop him. That means polling to put pressure on key politicians, generating national and international media coverage, and backing the Indigenous organizations on the front lines to stop this dangerous legislation in its tracks.
And it means we're counting on you, A -- will you chip in today to save the Amazon and its people?

Education is central to Cuba’s brand of socialism. The revolutionary government’s dedication to scientific knowledge and healthcare for all shows up now as Cubans cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. The United States is not so lucky.Cubans have wholeheartedly carried out masking, social-distancing, testing and quarantining. Cuba’ s bio-medical research and production facilities created five anti-Covid vaccines. As of December 3, 90.1 percent of Cubans had received their first dose; 82.3 percent of them were fully vaccinated. Only seven other countries have higher rates. (1) Trials showed that Cuba’s workhorse Abdala and Soberana 02 vaccines were protective for over 90 percent of vaccine recipients.Cuba’s Covid vaccines don’t need extremely low-temperature refrigeration as is the case for major U.S. vaccines. In that regard they are particularly useful in poorly resourced countries. Cuba has sent, or is preparing to send, vaccines to Vietnam, Venezuela, Iran, and Nicaragua. Cuban scientists are elaborating a version of their Soberana Plus vaccine that will protect against the Omicron variant.Cuba’s achievement in producing anti-Covid-19 vaccines is remarkable in the face of shortages of equipment, reagents, and supplies due to the U.S. economic blockade.

PAOV — “No pet should be left behind and no family should be left to choose their pets life over their own.” There are currently no provisions for pets in British Columbia’s natural disaster response plans, which means that the government does not provide pet food at emergency shelters and does not cover pet fees in their hotel voucher program. This petition is urging the government to consider pet needs in disaster response plans so that families are not forced to leave pets behind in emergency situations. If you agree that provisions for pets should be included in natural disaster response plans, sign the petition now.

Dear Friend,
We're clearly really excited about our holiday fundraising drive! You received an email from us just now - it went out a little bit earlier than we planned.
However, it is never too early to make your year-end donation to the BCCLA before Dec 31st - so you can receive a tax receipt for your donation! We're raising funds so that we can create free, accurate factsheets and educational resources for the public in the New Year.
Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience.
We're so grateful for your support,

I’ve spent much of the last 25 years as a journalist covering the impact of American militarism, reporting from war zones in Iraq, the former Yugoslavia, and Nigeria.
I’ve seen firsthand the devastating impacts of U.S. militarism under Republican and Democratic presidents, from George W. Bush’s Iraq War fiasco to Barack Obama’s drone wars and Afghanistan surge.
In 2014, I helped co-found The Intercept because U.S. journalism was utterly failing to provide the accountability and transparency necessary for the institutions of democracy to provide any check on the most powerful military in the history of the world, and I’ve been humbled by the financial support from readers that has allowed us to expand and deepen our reporting.
Unfortunately, the news industry has seen...
