We just heard they're "so close" to having enough to make this happen -- let's take it over the top!
A,
It sounds like a fairy tale, but there’s a place on Earth where tigers, elephants, and orangutans coexist in the wild. And this week we can buy a huge piece of their forest home to help protect it...forever.
The Leuser ecosystem in Indonesia has been called one of the most irreplaceable ecosystems on the planet. But poaching, infrastructure projects like hydroelectric dams, and mass deforestation fuelled by palm oil plantations are threatening to destroy it.
That’s why our partner Rainforest Trust wants to purchase and protect a huge chunk of this forest...and give these critically endangered species a fighting chance to survive. Just months ago we were able to do this in Colombia, and protect a rare monkey species...let’s do it again!
If 5000 of us chip in the cost of a cup of coffee...

PAOV — “Prior to this diagnosis, I never really noticed how parks are not accessible in the city of Ottawa.” David’s daughter Lolo was recently diagnosed with Rett syndrome - a rare genetic disorder that affects brain development. Lolo cannot use her hands, never learned to walk, and will soon need a wheelchair. Very few of the parks in Ottawa have accessible play structures, so Lolo can’t play with other children. David wants this to change, and is calling on the city to bring accessible features into their parks. You can show your support by signing the petition now.

Paov,
I’ll keep this short because I know it’s a busy time. This Thursday, January 20 we’re hosting a national organizing call to kick off our 2022 campaign to win the Just Transition legislation Canada needs.
The call starts this Thursday at 4pm PT / 5pm MT / 6pm CT / 7pm ET / 8pm AT / 8:30pm NT. We’re co-hosting it with our friends at the Council of Canadians, who we’re partnering with to make this campaign a success. We’ll explain our plan for the months ahead and how you and your community can get involved.
Together, we’re going to build public support for a rapid, just transition off of fossil fuels that puts people and the planet ahead of corporate profits. Trudeau promised a Just Transition Act almost three years ago now. This Parliament needs to deliver.
Hope to see you...

PAOV — Pierpoint Park is a nature reserve north of Guelph, Ontario that is home to an environmentally sensitive part of the Grand River. It is also a nationally significant and protected Black heritage site. In the 1820s, Richard Pierpoint, a freed man who had been abducted from West Africa and enslaved as a teenager, settled on the land. He was an early leader in the Niagara Region’s Black community, and was an important influence in the area’s defence during the War of 1812. Local residents are raising the alarm about a proposed truck bypass that threatens the park. You can help protect this historically and environmentally significant site by signing the petition now.

PAOV — More than a year after the BC government promised to protect old-growth forests, it continues to allow endangered forests to be logged. Paov,
I watched the movie Don’t Look Up over the holidays and I’m still thinking about it. If you haven’t seen it, the dark comedy is a parable with a clear message about the climate crisis: even when faced with clear evidence of an extinction-level threat (a massive comet in the case of the film) the people in power remain distracted by self-interest and fail to act at the scale required to save us.
As an organizer in the climate movement, watching Don’t Look Up with my family was a stark reminder of what’s at stake if our politicians don’t step up. It’s now the second-most watched Netflix film ever, so the message clearly resonated with millions of others too. More people than ever now realize that the longer our politicians delay and deny the stakes of the climate crisis, the more communities and workers will be pushed to the brink. That is why we must band together to demand immediate and transformative action at the scale the science requires.
The House of Commons will convene later this month with some big questions to answer when it comes to tackling the...
