5 million people have already died from Covid -- and Germany is still in lock-step with patent-owners refusing to share vaccines and treatments.
Tell Germany's new government to put people before profits, and stop blocking the pandemic patent waiver.
A,
More than 5 million people have died because of Covid, many of those needless deaths because of Big Pharma’s deadly patent monopoly on vaccines and treatments.
Germany is a big blocker of the TRIPS waiver – a proposal that would allow Covid vaccine patents to be shared which would help speed up the manufacturing of life-saving treatments. But with a newly formed government in Germany, there's an opportunity for you to help change the course of this pandemic for good.
An internal battle is playing out in the new German Government right now between politicians in the pockets of...
The most important rainforest you've never heard of

A,
It might be the most important rainforest you’ve never heard of. The Ecuadorian Choco is one of the most biodiverse places on the face of the Earth, a forest so rich with life that a recent trip by scientists took only 45 minutes to discover a new species!
But 98% of it has already been decimated by logging…and a palm oil giant wants to destroy what little is left.
Fortunately, a tiny local community is fighting back with all their might – and taking these planet-destroyers to court!
Legal experts say they can win – but the key to the case is a costly environmental study that they simply can’t afford. Can you help these local heroes save this critical piece of our planet’s nature?

Paov,
We have been working with many of you to organize the national Day of Action for a Just Transition on March 12th. By now I’m sure you’ve read so many emails from us about the need for a just transition that you’ve got the main points memorized. But it’s easy to forget that many of our friends, family and neighbours aren’t yet familiar with the concept. If our movement is going to win, we need to bring them up to speed.
Last week we launched a new online action to make it easy for you to tell your communities about the just transition, and the urgent need for a Just Transition Act, by sending letters to the editors of local and national newspapers. The just transition is about shifting off fossil fuels at the rapid pace the climate crisis demands while making sure no worker or community gets left behind. It’s a positive vision we can rally our communities around.
250 people across the country have already taken this action, but I know we can do better. Can you take a moment to send a letter to the editor...

PAOV — There are no provisions for pets in British Columbia’s natural disaster response plans. This means that the government does not provide pet food at emergency shelters and does not cover pet fees in their hotel voucher program. Over 38,000 people are urging the government to consider pet needs in disaster response plans so that families are not forced to abandon pets in emergency situations. You can help by signing the petition now.

Here we go again.
With talk of war in Ukraine rising to a fever pitch, U.S. media outlets are once again beating the drums.
We’re told that we’re facing a new Hitler. That this is a “new axis of evil” and a “Cold War 2.0.” That if we don’t “forcefully confront” Putin, it’s “appeasement.”
I’ve covered nearly every major U.S. military action since the 1990s, and it’s always the same.
The talking heads on cable news are almost drooling over the prospect of a ratings-boosting war. Retired Pentagon officials on the payroll of the defense industry are presented as “experts,” often with no disclosure of their financial conflicts of interest.
And once the shooting...

A,
In just a few weeks, shareholders will vote on a resolution (filed by SumOfUs members!) calling on Apple to come clean about forced labor in its supply chain. Now Apple execs are panicking that investors will back it. Let’s make their worst fears come true.
We spoofed an Apple ad about this crisis, and if we can get thousands of shareholders to see it, we can persuade them to vote in favor of the resolution.
Click to watch it below and then share far and wide – let’s get as many eyes on this as possible!

Our shareholder activism is working. In 2020, 13 SumOfUs members co-filed a resolution calling on Apple to implement a human rights policy, and got an unprecedented 40% vote in favor. The overwhelming response from shareholders forced the company to reconsider its position and resulted in it creating a human rights policy after all, even though we didn’t win the majority vote.
We can do it again. Investors don’t want Apple’s squeaky-clean brand tainted with allegations of forced...
