Hello Paov,
Iron & Earth is launching an exciting new platform, and we want you to be a part of it. Our mission as a worker-led, not for profit organization is to empower fossil fuel industry and Indigenous workers to build and implement climate solutions.
On March 22, from 3:00-4:30 MT, we are hosting an online event to launch the Climate Career Portal, a first of its kind job portal within Canada.
The Climate Career Portal shows fossil fuel workers interested in a career transition how their skills can be applied to a wide range of careers in the net-zero economy. It charts clear career pathways for fossil fuel workers into climate careers such as in wind, solar, geothermal, electric vehicle production and more.
To RSVP and receive the event link ahead of time, please enter your information here:

Paov,
“I’m here today to welcome you to the future. Our people have taken care of the land and water here since time immemorial – and part of that work is taking care of the future as well. The future you are visiting today has been co-created by all of us here. It is an act of resistance. It’s an expression of our collective dreams, our collective imagination.”
These are the words that Rueben George, from the Tsleil-Waututh nation shared with me, and hundreds of others, to open the Just Transition Day of Action event in Vancouver this Saturday. Even just remembering them now gives me chills.
This Saturday, we saw what is possible when we exercise the power of our imagination. Thousands of people, in 50 communities across the country, staged ribbon cutting ceremonies for the "Ministry of Just Transition", held press conferences from the future, and organized imaginative green jobs fairs to demonstrate what would be possible if our government invested in a Just Transition. If you were a part of this massive day of action -- thank you!
It was a truly remarkable day. Just see for yourself....

Even before Russia’s tanks started rolling into Ukraine, we were already hearing that the best way to stop Vladimir Putin’s aggression is to ramp up fossil fuel production in North America.
Within hours of the invasion, every planet-torching project that the climate justice movement had managed to block over the past decade was being frantically rushed back onto the table: every canceled oil pipeline, every nixed gas export terminal, every protected fracking field, every Arctic drilling dream.
Since Putin’s war machine is funded with petrodollars, the solution, we are told, is to drill, frack, and ship more of our own — no matter the cost to our planet and our future.

A,
We're breaking records! In the last week, more of us have donated to our community's Ukraine fundraiser than to any other fundraising campaign in SumOfUs' ten year history.
This incredible outpouring has brought hope and life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable people on the ground -- people other major humanitarian efforts often overlook and ignore. This is what we can do together: crowdsource unprecedented funding and direct it to the bravest activists in the middle of the toughest fights.
In a matter of just days we've been able to rush hundreds of thousands of dollars to groups working on the frontline, with more on the way, including:
- Mission Lifeline, running convoys to the Slovak-Ukrainian border to support those fleeing the conflict;
- Urgent Action Fund, sending emergency grants to women, trans, and non-binary activists and human rights defenders in Ukraine;
- Outright International, supporting organisations in Ukraine and neighbouring countries to help LGBTQ people in search of shelter, safety and security;
- Libereco, mobilising volunteers to...

More than 50 rivers have been diverted for agribusiness on the South Coast.
Abelino has spoken against this violation of the human right to water.
On March 14, the day after he joins our webinar, he will be in court with three other colleagues all of whom have been criminalized by sugar mills.

Radioactive mud

A,
EDF is about to dump hundreds of thousands of tonnes of nuclear-contaminated “mud” into a marine reserve in the Severn Estuary – and let it wash up on beaches along the coast.
But we can stop them!
Courageous grassroots conservationists have just won permission to challenge the plan in court. If they win, EDF will be forced to ditch its toxic scheme, protecting hundreds of thousands of local residents and a crucial breeding ground for fish – including protected species and the endangered European Eel.
But the court date is this week, and the heroes at Save the Severn don’t yet have the cash to pay their legal team.
That’s why they’re asking for your help. If we all chip in, we can make sure they have the best expert help to defeat this nightmare – and show companies everywhere they can’t just dump toxic waste where they want. Are you in?

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a baldfaced act of aggression, replete with war crimes. It is rightly being condemned as such by large numbers of people and nations across the globe.
From the beginning of this crisis, Russian President Vladimir Putin has exploited the past bombing campaigns of the U.S. and NATO to frame his own warped justification for his murderous campaign in Ukraine.
But the fact that Putin is trying to justify the unjustifiable does not mean that we must ignore the U.S. actions that fuel his narrative. The laws of war and international law should apply not only to the declared bad guys of the moment or to parties that unilaterally attack other nations, but also...

Paov,
This Saturday, I’m attending a press conference from the future at the Vancouver Public Library.
That’s right. The future. At the event, the “Ministry of Just Transition” will present a 3-year update on what it has accomplished since its inception in 2022. The climate champions leading the charge will share progress updates on the new programs and institutions they have created by the year 2025 to combat the climate crisis, generate green jobs, build affordable housing, and address many other structural injustices.
If you’re confused, allow me to clarify. What we’re doing this Saturday, on March 12th, is an exercise in collectively imagining the better future we know we deserve. We’re holding a national Day of Action to put our vision for Canada’s just transition on full display.
From coast to coast to coast, we will use creative visuals, theatrics, and art to show politicians, the media, and, most importantly, our communities, what it can look like if our government invests in programs that accelerate the transition off of fossil fuels while protecting people and the planet.
There will be actions in 45+ communities across the country, click here...

Borneo rainforest DECIMATED

A,
One of Malaysia’s largest timber and palm oil corporations is deforesting huge swathes of rainforest in Malaysian Borneo without consent, decimating endangered gibbon, clouded leopard and pangolin habitats.
When a local, four-person NGO helped expose the destruction, the timber giant slapped them with a $1.8 million lawsuit to silence them!
We know it won’t end there. The family that owns this company is worth $400 million – and has a history of using legal bullying to shut down forest defenders to protect its profits.
But if enough of us chip in, we can give this small but mighty NGO the money they need to fight back in court and win.
Their court date is days away and they need an influx of cash – can you chip in?
If you’ve saved your payment information with SumOfUs, your donation will go through immediately.
