POISONING BEES

A,
Billions of bees are dying -- and the EU just voted to reapprove a bee-killing pesticide for another 15 years...even though it pledged to phase it out!
Over 20% of bee species threatened with extinction are native to Europe -- and it's frightening to imagine the devastation another 15 years of this pesticide would cause.
But thanks to a new law, people like you and me and NGOs can now challenge pesticide approvals in the EU’s supreme court. If we win, we could force the EU to ban this pesticide for good.
Our partners at PAN Europe are ready to go to court -- but they need money to fund the case. If we all chip in just a small amount, we can power their case and keep campaigning to save the bees, before it’s too late.
A, can you chip in to save the bees?

Hi Paov,
We’re really proud to be a
worker-led group of people pushing for change. But what exactly does
it mean to be worker-led?
Well, for one thing, we put the issues that matter most to the energy workers in Canada at the forefront.
The federal government is one again looking at the Just Transition Act that will have fossil fuel workers transitioning towards a net-zero economy.
We’re here to make that as smooth a transition as possible for workers.
This is why we set a goal to speak to 100 fossil fuel workers so we can hold the government to account.
Fossil fuel workers can sign up here.
This is where you come in. Can you think of 1, 2, 3… 10?! people you know that have experience in the oil & gas or coal industries that we should hear from?
Just forward this...
TOMORROW: Mass Organizing Call

Paov,
You’ve probably seen the images and videos of hereditary chiefs and land defenders being forcibly removed at gunpoint by the RCMP for protecting their lands against Coastal GasLink's fracked gas pipeline.
In the wake of these brutal scenes, land defenders from Gidimt’en checkpoint have called upon allies to take action to hold the investors, owners, and financiers of the Coastal Gaslink pipeline to account.
That’s why we’re joining forces with groups across the continent to support an International Week of Action to Defund Coastal GasLink starting on December 20th.
Eve Saint, Wet’suwet’en Land Defender, and Amy Gray, Senior Climate Finance Strategist at Stand.earth, will share details about the financing behind Coastal GasLink and and share why it’s so urgent and important to take action.
After you RSVP for the mass organizing call, check to see if there's already and action registered near you. Consider hosting an action if there isn’t one already on the map.
There's an action toolkit to get you started and our friends...

PAOV — “Rapid tests, which are cheap, and can give you a result in minutes, are a critical tool to keep our kids safe until they can be safely vaccinated.” COVID-19 vaccines are now available across the country for most school-age children. However, calls are growing for rapid tests to be used more frequently to detect cases of COVID to prevent outbreaks in schools. If you agree that rapid COVID tests should be used in more schools across the country, sign the petition.

Toyota is lobbying against environmental laws all over the world, so it can make more profits selling gas guzzlers for years to come.
Tell Toyota to stop lobbying for fossil fuels, and go green.
A,
Toyota is one of the world’s top lobbyists against laws to protect us all from catastrophic climate breakdown. Only oil giants ExxonMobil and Chevron are doing more lobbying harm!
Maybe oil barons don't care, but Toyota bosses hate it when news about their lobbying gets out.
Public outcry in California last year helped make Toyota pull out of a lawsuit to block climate action there. So if we can mobilize even more of us now, we can stop their dirty work everywhere. Will you add your signature and spread the word?
Tell Toyota to stop abusing our trust, and go green for real.

Let's buy a forest (...again)

A,
It sounds like a fairy tale, but there’s a place on Earth where tigers, elephants, and orangutans coexist in the wild. And this week we can buy a huge piece of their forest home to help protect it...forever.
The Leuser ecosystem of Indonesia has been called one of the most irreplaceable ecosystems on the planet. But poaching, infrastructure projects like hydroelectric dams, and mass deforestation fueled by palm oil plantations are threatening to destroy it.
That’s why our partner Rainforest Trust wants to purchase and protect a huge chunk of this forest...and give these critically endangered species a fighting chance to survive. Just months ago we were able to do this in Colombia, and protect a rare monkey species...let’s do it again!
If 5000 of us chip in the cost of a cup of coffee in the next 24 hours, Rainforest Trust has a donor offering a 4x match on your donation! They could secure the land quickly and get started on...

European railway companies are bulldozing the Mexican rainforests -- the Spanish and German railway companies Renfe, Ineco and Deutsche Bahn support the Maya Train that threatens the existence of the forests, animals and Indigenous communities.
Tell Renfe, Ineco and Deutsche Bahn to get off the Maya Train and save the rainforests!
A,
The Maya Train is a 1,500 km tourist megaproject that is set to bulldoze its way through the last remaining forests of southern Mexico. And Europe's rail companies are lining up to profit from it.
The Mexican Government is selling the destructive railway project as progress, development and tourism. In reality, its construction is being forced...

We know we are in a Climate Emergency. But what do we do to address it?
Climate scientists warn that we have just 8 years to halve our greenhouse gas emissions if we are to prevent catastrophic warming. Indigenous peoples are calling us to a radically new relationship with the Earth as they defend land and waters at great cost. What is the Spirit saying to today’s church?
Join Ian Funk (from Mennonite Church Canada’s Sustainability Leadership Group) and Steve Heinrichs (director of Indigenous-Settler Relations) for a spirited eight-week series exploring the...

Hi A,
We just made a spoof of the new Meta ad -- and thought you might want to see.
We took Meta’s original TV ad, and added tongue-in-cheek messages to it which highlight some of the most toxic content we’ve seen on the platform. As the ad goes on, the pings become more frequent and extreme, and eventually the executives celebrate how rich they’re getting off the kids’ data.
Watch it on YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter -- then share it with everyone.
We need as many eyeballs on this video as possible to expose how outrageous it is for Facebook executives to launch a new platform when they can’t even control the harmful content on Facebook.
We also just co-filed a Facebook shareholder resolution demanding the company conduct...
