A,
Despite workers passing out on the job, Lufthansa just doubled down and said air conditioning would be of "little benefit" to their workers in the US!
Lufthansa is putting workers at risk by refusing to use air conditioning in trucks -- just to save a few bucks. Exposed to extreme heat, workers are dizzy, dehydrated and passing out.
The workers’ union UNITE HERE is fighting back, but they need a global movement to force Lufthansa to do the right thing. Demand Lufthansa install air conditioning and ensure safe conditions!

Toward a New Model Young Labour
Max Shanly
Following decades of neoliberalism, where a massive redistribution of wealth and power has taken place in favour of the rich, the capitalist system now finds itself in serious crisis.
The preceding epoch, characterised primarily by a slavish reliance upon the financial sector -- itself based on uncontrolled, free-flowing circulation of money -- has led to politics in this country being defined by submission to those with financial clout.
Austerity measures are as deadly as they are unpopular. The privatisation of our public goods and services and the marketisation of health and education are added to the managed decline of our country’s productive base and the seismic reduction in our welfare state. Our democratic institutions have...
Nestlé's bullying lawsuit

A,
Watch out, Nestlé! Thanks to SumOfUs members like you, we've raised an incredible $30,000 to cover legal fees for Osceola Township, the tiny community being sued by Nestlé for protecting its water. This amount will cover the debt the township has incurred from the lawsuit so far.
Already, over 130,000 SumOfUs members around the globe have demanded Nestlé drop this intimidation lawsuit. And last week, we showed up at court to deliver the petitions.
But this fight isn't over yet -- and we can't back down until Nestlé drops the court case. Please, can you join me in demanding Nestlé drop its bulling lawsuit?
Yes, I'll sign the petition today to tell Nestlé to drop the lawsuit against Osceola township.
Nestlé is taking a tiny township in Michigan to court for protecting its water from Nestlé’s insatiable drive for profit.

A,
This is urgent. We only have one week to convince BC Environment Minister George Heyman to deny Cermaq's permit to dump millions of litres of toxic chemicals into a salmon farm in Clayoquot Sound.
Already, over 26,000 of us have signed the petition. With just a week to go, we need to make sure as many people as possible see this. Can you share this petition with your friends and family on Facebook now before the deadline?
Or you can copy and share this email if you prefer:

National Struggle and Class Struggle: Complementary or Contradictory?
André Frappier
Parallels Between Catalonia and Quebec
A major item on the agenda of the upcoming convention of Québec solidaire (QS), to be held in the Montréal suburb of Longueuil December 1-3, will be a proposal for fusion with another pro-independence party, Option nationale (ON). This will entail revisiting the relationship between the parties’ support for Quebec independence (basically the entire program of ON) and Québec solidaire’s attempt to link the national question with its social justice program.
The current struggle for national self-determination in Catalonia quite naturally suggests parallels with the issues posed in the Quebec pro-sovereignty movement. In recent weeks, two leaders of Québec solidaire – Manon Massé, a party spokesperson and member...

Until death do us part. No one expects that the cost of a pill could one day mean the tragic death of a spouse or loved one.
That’s exactly what it meant for Judy and Gary Pope.
Why? Because the Cambridge, Ontario couple had to make a heartbreaking decision.

The fifth round of NAFTA talks concluded in Mexico City earlier today. In short, it would appear that no 'progress' was made on any key issues.
