PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS FAB OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH!
It is our pleasure to announce a call for young artists (21 and under) to participate in The Longhouse Project.
In collaboration with Nuu-chah-nulth artist Hjalmer Wenstob, and with the consent and support of Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, we will be erecting four temporary Longhouse structures on the Legislature lawn on September 16th, 2017. The structures will be painted in the style of the Coast Salish, Kwakwaka’wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth and Pacific Islander peoples respectively, and will form the backdrop for an international indigenous arts and culture event – One Wave Festival. The inside of the houses will be programmed by community members from each respective area as they see appropriate.
Youth artists are invited to submit a design to be painted on the front of one of these houses. Each youth will receive cultural and artistic mentorship throughout this process, and will receive...

Can you tell us what your top health care priority is for the new government so that we can raise it directly with the Minister?
During the provincial election, we talked to thousands of voters about the issues that matter most to you.
We took your feedback and evaluated the major BC parties’ platform
positions on five areas that would improve public health care
for everyone. Now we need to set the agenda for what they
tackle first.
What is your top priority for
the new BC government? Select your top issue:

Kinder Morgan wants to start
construction on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion in September. For
Kwantlen and Nlaka'Pamux First Nations, Kinder Morgan's plans represent the
continuation of 150 years of colonial encroachment, which they continue to

We invite you to come and

URGENT: Big Oil wants to drill in a conservation area of the east coast — and Minister LeBlanc is caving into the pressure.
Highly endangered right whales that swim in the area are already washing up dead, and if this absurd plan goes through, it could be disastrous for them and thousands of other species.
More than 10,000 Leadnow members have already sent messages urging LeBlanc to ban all oil and gas activity in this critical ocean habitat. Will you add your voice before the deadline for comments in 4 days?
Send message nowURGENT: Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc — responsible for protecting our oceans — is caving in to pressure from Big Oil. After multiple meetings with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, LeBlanc and his team want to allow oil and gas exploration in 80% of a proposed Marine Protected Area in the Laurentian Channel.[1-2]
