Did you see the news this week about the 2015 election?
According to Tuesday’s Globe and Mail it was “the highest
voter turnout in almost a quarter-century. Now, Statistics Canada has
a clearer picture of who was behind that shift: Young
people.”1
The team behind ShitHarperDid.com has been
committed to finding creative ways to engage our generation in
politics since 2011. Of course we can’t take too much credit for this
unprecedented shift, but we do know that with your support we’ve
definitely made a big impact since 2011. That’s why I’m excited to share our first
Trudeau-era project with you!

Great discussions this past February! Here are the five upcoming events for March:
March 3rd @ 7PM - The Bernie Sanders Phenomenon
Sanders and his call for socialism has opened the door for the discussion on social reforms (universal health care, free education, etc) in the US and in Canada, and how they can be paid for under capitalism. Our discussion will focus on how possible these reforms are while maintain the status quo or, if a greater break with capitalism is necessary. See link: http://bit.ly/1Qapupr
March 10th @ 7PM - The Philosophy of Marxism
Trotsky's 'ABC of Materialist Dialectics' is a brilliant and short explanation of Marxist philosophy. It was written to outline how Marxism differs from traditional idealistic philosophy. As opposed to pragmatism and empiricism, Trotsky defended dialectical materialism as a richer, fuller, more comprehensive view of society and life in general. See link: http://bit.ly/1QsB62R

Back in January we commissioned a poll that showed two things about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP): few Canadians know what’s in it, and the more they learn the less they like it.
Now we’ve prepared a major public awareness campaign to rally people to reject the TPP before it’s too late - but we need your help to reach hundreds of thousands, or even millions of people across Canada.

The following article was written for Kojkkino, the theoretical magazine of the Greek organization DEA. Though quite long, it does not claim to cover all sides of the question. Indeed, it's the kind of article that is never really finished and that has to be constantly reworked and supplemented. Its main objective is to stimulate collective thinking about the lessons of the successes and failures of the French New Anticapitalist Party (NPA) from its birth to the present day.

Hello rabble readers!
This week, Avi Lewis called rabble.ca "our cherished, venerable, fierce and principled source of truly independent media in Canada." He's right, you know. That's why we're offering a free copy of his incredible, groundbreaking film This Changes Everything to anyone who becomes a monthly supporter or increases their donation. Like Avi, Naomi Klein and the thousands of other signatories to the Leap Manifesto, we want to make 2016 a "Leap Year" for climate justice. And to do that we need a strong, vibrant independent media more than ever. Will you chip in a few bucks today to help us get there?

Hands Off Our Healthcare, Hydro, Transit and Housing
Privatization is everywhere in the city, our province, and across the country, whether is is selling off public resources and services; financing and managing public projects through public/private partnerships (P3s); contracting out the public capacity to manage and oversee the operation of programmes we all need.
Privatization seeks to transform our education, healthcare, energy, and transit into more assets for the 1% to profit from. It undermines public healthcare, affordable, sustainable and reliable energy, accessible transit, social and affordable housing, and the livelihoods of those who work in these sectors.
Who loses most from privatization? Workers, the unemployed, oppressed groups and the environment.
A number of movements work to challenge privatization -- campaigns against the privatization...
