PRIDE This film is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.

Monsanto and its allies are suing the tiny, rural U.S. state of Vermont to block the labeling of GMO foods. A judge just rejected their request for a preliminary injunction -- meaning the case will now go to trial and Vermont's legal costs will likely skyrocket. Will you chip in CA$60 to help Vermont fight back?
Dear Paov,
When the tiny, rural U.S. state of Vermont passed a law requiring genetically engineered foods to be labeled, Monsanto and its allies sued to block it.

More billboard action suggested

We think that it is time to get the CAIA billboard in the Times Colonist. Here is a suggestion. Lets send a picture of our Billboard sign with a letter saying that we erected it on Sunday May 5, and that shortly thereafter the owner of the Billboard who rented it to CAIA received a letter from a local MLA, who represents another constituency from the one where the Billboard stands, claiming on the basis of a complaint from a constituent that it incited hate against a people. Then say, as anyone can see who views the Billboard, the message is a criticism of the policies of Israel of Occupation and Apartheid practiced by Israel and not of a people. Then go on to point out that the MLA failed to read the Billboard or note that CAIA's address is on it, resulting in his misdirection of his letter. The attack on Free Speech and the attempt to bully the Billboard owner is an example of the cowardly ways some supporters of Israel try to silence criticism of it policies and actions.

Last night, I was proud to cast my vote for Victoria against Bill C-51 at its final reading.

CAIA has now received a copy of the letter from Andrew Weaver. It is attached.
All those who have been emailing to counter to attacks by the Zionist regarding our billboard are to be greatly thanked. It is only through support from people like you that we can get the truth out about what is happening to the Palestinians.
We are trying to set up an appointment with the band who own the land the billboard is on to explain our position, that there is still free speech in Canada and to counter the Zionist derogatory attacks.
Pleas do not contact the renter BOB. He has been most supportive and he is not responsible for the content of our billboard nor whether it stays up on not..
