Victoria Friends of Cuba shared the following:

Call for a Poverty Reduction Plan:
from Michelle Mungall:
This Spring, I have some great news to share. To celebrate the end to the child support claw back, we’ve put together a video that shares the story of our hard work to make this happen. Watch the video here.
A year ago, I began bringing the stories of single parent families impacted by the child support clawback to the Legislature. Hey all you heavy-hearted lefties out there,
We are in the last weeks of our Mindbombs campaign, an initiative which harks all the way back to the birth of Adbusters. 25 years ago, determined to get on TV under the same rules and conditions as corporations do, we produced a series of provocative anti-ads and uncommercials like the burping pig Buy Nothing Day spot and the Economists Must Learn To Subtract! blast against the economics profession — all of which were rejected by major broadcast networks around the world.

Hey all you eco-warriors,
Year after year, one country has steadfastly refused to commit to meeting reduction targets, despite being the largest per-capita emitter of greenhouse gases in the western world. Yes, it’s Canada. Stephen Harper’s federal government has done everything in it’s power to turn Canada into a petro-oligarchy while simultaneously attempting to undermine clean energy policies abroad. Now Canadians from all walks of life have had enough, and are gearing up to oust Harper in the upcoming election this autumn.

VICTORIA, BC — More than 70 community organizations have pledged their support as co-sponsors of the 35th Annual Earth Walk for Peace and the Planet, happening this Saturday, April 25 beginning at 11:00 am at the BC Legislature Lawn for a walk to Centennial Square for speakers and live music.
The walk and festivities will feature 11-year-old Rupert Yakelashek, champion of the Blue Dot movement for environmental rights, as Master of Ceremonies, joined by his 8-year-old sister Franny.
"Earth Walk is a good time to get inspired to keep helping the earth as it is our only home," says Rupert Yakelashek, who spearheaded the regional movement to secure declarations of environmental rights in municipalities from Victoria and Saanich and Sooke to communities up Vancouver Island and on the mainland. "I hope to see many...
