Gerardo Alfonso, Cuban popular musician and Sandra Ramirez, Cuban Friendship Institute representative will be on a Canada cross country tour. Our Victoria Friends of Cuba with the Canadian Network on Cuba is cosponsoring their visit to Victoria.
The beautiful poetic songs of outstanding Cuban composer and guitar player, Gerardo Alfonso Morejón will be heard from Halifax to Victoria. This Solidarity with Cuba Musician Tour is organized by the Canadian Network on Cuba and is from March 21st to April 13th with performances in twelve cities, in six provinces.
The tour will promote the Third World Solidarity Meeting in Havana October 27 to 29th, 2014. Sandra Ramírez, North American Specialist from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples in Havana will accompany...

  • In recent months, crowdfunding has emerged as a viable alternative financial vehicle for causes. It seems to work best on "non-traditional" organizations: business start-ups, creative projects, films, and social causes that don't come from NGO's.

    Our panelists will share their stories of the ups and downs from running successful crowdfunding campaigns.

    Local digital strategist Jason Mogus will share the 6 things he's observed on how to know whether crowdfunding is a fit for your campaign or idea, and if so how to make it succeed.

    Jordan Bower will discuss the relationship between your crowdfunding campaign and your broader fundraising and digital communications strategy.

This week Voice of Palestine interviews Tyler Levitan, campaign coordinator for Independent Jewish Voices, Canada. We talk with him about IJV’s ‘Expose the Jewish National Fund JNF’ campaign, their new postcard initiative, and their support for the BDS movement. We also discuss the upcoming Jewish National Fund Galas across Canada, and the campaigns to protest them, including the petition calling on Nikki Yanofsky to cancel her performances at several JNF galas.

Waterlution is hosting a scenario planning workshop around the oil sands in Vancouver this April. I think this opportunity might be of interest to those young leaders in your network. The workshop is free of charge, lunch and dinner is provided and participants get a FourSight assessment, which provides insight into individuals thinking profiles, to add appreciation for how individuals work together over the day (and beyond).

Waterlution has been working for years to engage diverse perspectives in innovative ways forward within the energy sector. We feel the time has come to deliver something something new and potentially ground-breaking with this scenario planning format. We hope to have a broad spectrum of voices in the room to share knowledge and help craft scenarios of what the oil sands might look like in 2025.
