[Uvic-sustainability] News and Events for week of May 5th

NEWS

As part of the Divest UVic campaign started by students, members of UVic’s Faculty Association have created an open letter calling on the university foundation to freeze all new endowment investments in fossil fuels and to develop a plan to divest all current holdings in fossil fuels within three years. Let's educate ourselves about the important things taking place right beneath our noses and learn how to take part in the decision making!
All Welcome.

Today we launched the Stream of Consciousness project. I’m writing ask your help to launch this project powerfully by visiting www.fundthestream.com and making a donation to the project. Each and every donation makes a HUGE difference towards bringing this project into reality. Victoria is brimming with super-talented people: speakers, authors, community organizations and creatives each with a unique message and a commitment to making a difference in the world. Stream of Consciousness will help these people engage more people more effectively. This project is not about gadgets, kit and gear. It’s a about ideas and stories. It’s about giving new thinkers, idea-monsters and life-hackers an edge. We want to build a mind-bomb, an explosion of ideas that will have a huge reach way beyond Victoria. This is going to be an exciting roller-coaster of a month. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook & Twitter so you share in the excitement as it happens. The Ark was in the port of Gaza being readied to put to sea in June. Whether and when the boat can be repaired is something we will not know for sure until it can be pulled out of the water for inspection.
Awad said he had been warned to leave the area by an anonymous caller. "I was [sleeping] near the boat and someone phoned me -- an unidentified caller. I...
