SAVED! Chatham dogs get a second chance at life
Animal Justice fought in court last year to save 21 abused dogs from execution after they were rescued from a dogfighting ring. After months of negotiations, the dogs will now have a fresh start at a Florida rehabilitation centre! Thanks to everyone who spoke up for the pups.

Palestinian Dispossessions, Canada and the Jewish National Fund
The Jewish National Fund (JNF) has been the key tool used by Israel to dispossess Palestinians of their lands for over a century. It also discriminates against Palestinian citizens of Israel in the provision of land and housing, and appropriates lands in the Occupied Palestinian Territory in violation of international law.
Canadian taxpayers subsidize these activities, as the JNF has a fundraising office in Canada that has had charitable status since 1967.
Join with Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV) in calling on the Minister of National Revenue to revoke JNF Canada's charitable status NOW!

During the last two months Venezuela has been faced with a terrible wave of violence. It has already resulted in more than 60 deaths along with looted schools, burned public buildings, destroyed public transportation and emptied hospitals. The major media, however, simply engage in a running stream of gruesome denunciations of the government. They have installed the image of a dictator in conflict with the opposition democrats.
But the statistics do not corroborate that narrative, especially when it comes to those who have fallen. When the number had risen to 39, an initial report pointed to only four who were victims of the security forces. The remainder had died in looting or shoot-outs...

The following resolution calling for the repeal of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is the work of the Autoworkers Caravan. It is an organizing, educating and mobilizing group of current and former autoworkers, largely located in the USA, but with some Canadian Unifor members as well. The group is somewhat of a successor to the once active oppositional movement within the U.S.-centred ‘International’, the United Auto Workers (UAW) -- the now defunct New Directions movement. Rescued dogs get a second chance at life r33
Dear PAOV,
Last year, Animal Justice lawyers went to court in Chatham, Ontario to fight for the lives of 21 pit bull dogs who were rescued from a dogfighting ring. Even though these dogs were victims of horrific abuse, the Ontario SPCA was trying to execute them, claiming they were dangerous.
The court refused to let Animal Justice intervene on behalf of the dogs, and we were heartbroken. But now, there's some good news: The dogs are safe!

Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s presidential and legislative campaign this year was different from the previous ones. There was a huge change in the relationship to political parties in general and to his former Left Front allies in particular. In the midst of his involvement in a participatory research project within a high-stakes local struggle against the closure of an automotive plant, he was accused of being a "free-floating Marxist intellectual," an outsider, and he was given the "evil eye" and asked to explain "where his loyalties lay." "All Power to the Soviets!" Biography of a Slogan

"All power to the Soviets!" is surely one of the most famous slogans in revolutionary history. It is right up there with "Egalité, liberté, fraternité" as a symbol of an entire revolutionary epoch. In this essay and others to follow, I would like to examine the origin of this slogan in its original context of Russia in 1917.
Our slogan consists of three words: вся власть советам (vsya vlast’ sovetam). "Vsya" = "all," "vlast’" = "power", and "sovetam" = "to the soviets."
