City to Introduce New On-Street Parking Ambassadors

Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2015
For Immediate Release

VICTORIA, BC – Building on recent improvements to how the City provides parking services, a new on-street parking ambassador model is being introduced, bringing what has traditionally been a contracted enforcement model, in-house under the City’s customer service fold. Notley must fix the voting system: Fair Vote Canada alberta votes

After an election in which 798,000 votes went nowhere, Rachel Notley has a golden opportunity to bring a more democratic voting system to Alberta.

Theses on Podemos and
the ‘Democratic Revolution’ in Spain

Raul Zelik
(Translation by Eric Canepa)

Even if one almost always goes wrong with such prognoses, the fact is that the Spanish state is facing the biggest rupture since the end of the Franco dictatorship. In several large cities, the left radical-democratic lists of the Guanyem / Ganemos Initiatives have real chances of winning the mayoral elections in May. Friends,

We’ve said before that the oil price shock could lead to profound shifts, and last night Canada got its first real taste of what that could look like.

Right now, the tar sands are still on track to break Canada’s climate commitments, the federal government’s head remains in the sands on climate, and the fossil fuel industry’s power in...

[coalalert] GOODWIN'S WAY DOCUMENTARY TRAILER

Here’s the link to the latest trailer for the documentary Goodwin’s Way. https://www.facebook.com/GoodwinsWay/videos/vb.464464453643562/803306349759369/?type=2&theater
Here’s the plot line: Hero. Deserter. Revolutionary. Martyr. Legend. A century after he was gunned down by police under mysterious circumstances, Albert "Ginger" Goodwin continues to provoke controversy in Cumberland, British Columbia.

Supporters of the labour leader argue the Liberal government's removal of highway signs bearing his name is an attempt to undermine Goodwin's legacy of solidarity and the ideals of equality and self-determination for which he fought and died. His critics, meanwhile, dismiss him as a lawbreaker, a draft-dodger and an agitator.

Shaped by strikes on both sides of the Atlantic and an abiding sense of justice, Goodwin was catapulted into the Northwest’s most contentious worker...
