Last week was pivotal in the fight to protect our public
blood supply.
After hearing that a private company plans to set up paid plasma clinics in B.C., we teamed up with the BC Chapter of the Canadian Hemophilia Society and BloodWatch.org to bring the call for a BC ban on pay-for-blood and plasma directly to government and BC communities.
We went to the Legislature with families who were impacted by the tainted blood tragedy and met with elected officials.
We also held public town halls in five BC communities.
Our call generated extensive media coverage, and more importantly, ramped up...

Israel has just imposed an effective travel ban on BDS movement co-founder Omar Barghouti. This repressive move is being seen as a step towards revoking his residency rights, as Israeli ministers threatened a few weeks ago.

The CAIA active committee has purchased magnetic signs that can be put on the side of cars. They will be displayed for the first time at Movie Night.

We have just two weeks to convince the federal government to drop a Harper-era court case that could threaten wild salmon.
If enough of us send messages to the Minister of Fisheries and the Minister of Justice now, we can convince them to drop the case.
If you care about wild salmon, you’re going to want to read this.
Last year, when biologist and salmon advocate Alexandra Morton won a lawsuit to help stop the transfer of disease-carrying Atlantic salmon to open-net fish farms, the Harper government and Norwegian fish farming giant Marine Harvest filed an appeal to try to overturn the ruling.
Now, we’ve learned that our new government is not only continuing Harper’s case -- they are fast-tracking it through the courts this month.
