There’s no real surprise that the opposition is trying to shut down our very right to organize, and we are going to need to show up in unprecedented ways to defeat it.
We're launching a national strategy to fight attacks on our right to boycott -- but we can't do it without you.
. CHIP IN . . .Last week ended with a surge. G4S, the world’s biggest security company, announced plans to sell their Israeli business and US/UK youth detention services; settlement cosmetics company Ahava said they will finally leave the Occupied West Bank; and our global coalition delivered over 140,000 signatures to Airbnb headquarters in cities around the world.
This momentum makes one thing clear: organizing works.

Israeli Companies Leaving West Bank in Apparent Response to Boycott Pressure
A soon-to-be-released report obtained by Haaretz suggests that international pressure may have affected companies' decisions to move within the Green Line.
http://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-1.711096
Responding to international boycott pressures and other constraints, a growing number of Israeli companies operating in the West Bank are moving their facilities to locations within the country’s internationally recognized borders, according to a report prepared by Gush Shalom, an anti-occupation organization that monitors such activities.
The report, obtained by Haaretz, shows that aside from the recent high-profile cases of Ahava, the Dead Sea skin care product company, and SodaStream, the seltzer-machine manufacturer, other prominent Israeli companies have also been part of this trend, even if they have managed to evade publicity.

Premier Christy Clark just appointed a former director of the climate denying, Koch-funded Fraser Institute to draft BC’s Climate Leadership Plan. This appointment is the clearest sign we’ve seen she’s sabotaging BC’s climate leadership.
The public comment period for the BC Climate Plan ends Friday and we need to use this opportunity to make our voices heard. Call on her to remove this latest appointment and start taking climate change seriously.

The Israeli army expelled Heidar Abu Ghosh from his hometown of Imwas in 1967. It was subsequently demolished along with two other villages, and covered over by “Canada Park.”
Heidar Abu Ghosh is touring Canada to uncover this crime for Canadians and to suggest a path towards justice and peace.

Save the Douglas Street Trees!
BC Transit is proposing to remove the wonderful mature and healthy Heritage trees on the west side of Douglas Street between Hillside and Tolmie. You can read more about this proposal and the campaign to save the trees at::
<http://vi-can.ca/wp-content/uploads/160310-Presentation-to-Council.pdf>
To remove those trees would be an act of urban desecration that would drastically reduce the liveability of this area of Douglas, which is potentially the urban village for Burnside-Gorge, in which I and 6,500 others live.
There's more information in the succession of posts on the Victoria Citizens Action Network (ViCAN) web site:

What Values are important to you in a new electoral system?
As you know, before the election the Liberal Party put in motion an election platform that promised to launch an all-party committee directly after the election - they would consult with Canadians and deliver legislation within 18 months to change the electoral system.
They launched the platform using the same tagline as Fair Vote Canada! – They would Make Every Vote Count.
We know that for a large part of the Liberal Party that means proportional representation. We also know that some favour another majoritarian option that will not fix the problems we have identified.

r51 G4S announces plans to sell Israeli business
We've got an exciting update to share. British security company G4S has responded to a four-year long global boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign protesting its role in Israeli prisons and checkpoints by announcing it will sell its Israeli subsidiary in the coming “12 to 24 months.”
This is the direct result of amazing grassroots organising of the BDS movement, which has cost G4S contracts worth millions of dollars.
In recent weeks, UNICEF in Jordan and a major restaurant chain in Colombia became the latest high-profile bodies to end their contracts with G4S following BDS campaigns.
The G4S announcement follows decisions by other big multinationals including Orange, Veolia and CRH to exit the Israeli market following BDS pressure.
As at the height of the international boycott of apartheid South Africa, BDS pressure is making some of the world’s...

PAOV -- Honduran Indigenous, environmental rights campaigner and co-founder of the National Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH), Berta Cáceres was assassinated in her La Esperanza home. Telesur correspondent, Gilda Silvestruci confirmed that the Honduran leader was killed at 0100 local central standard time, on Thursday March 3rd.
Idle No More organizers stand in solidarity with the family of Berta Cáceres, the Lenca people, and the people of Honduras. We extend our deepest condolences for the irreplaceable loss that is felt worldwide.
For years Berta and her family have faced threats of brutal violence while hundreds of her comrades have also been murdered in Honduras defending their territory and rights. Honduras is one of the deadliest places for Indigenous and Environmental activists, and they continue to stand up against one of Central America’s biggest hydropower projects, in spite the continued threats of violence from US funded police forces and privately hired security guards.

We have thousands of volunteers standing by, ready to get to work on a big public outreach campaign for a Made In Canada proportional representation system.
We need to reach thousands of people in key strategic ridings to show the Liberals that people want PR - and we can only do it with your help. Chip in today to help fund our community action teams.
Chip in todayJust a couple of nights ago, I stood at the front of a packed room of volunteers who were ready and eager to get to work on Leadnow’s new voting reform campaign.
I wouldn’t have believed that this would be possible a year ago - that we’d finally have an opportunity to change our broken voting system. It took a lot of organizing to get to this point - thousands of volunteers knocking on doors, making phone calls and dropping flyers during the election in order to bring an end to the Harper decade.
