Come see prodigious activist singer-songwriter David Rovics, back in Victoria. Get ready to learn about world events and peoples’ lives from a different perspective, as his tight, edgy lyrics dance with his acoustic guitar.
If you care about the fate of our planet and all who share it, seize this rare opportunity to see one of the great musical storytellers of our time. Come hear why his music has been featured on Democracy Now!, BBC, and Al-Jazeera. Come see why Amy Goodman has called him the “musical version of Democracy Now.”
Get ready to laugh, cry, and most importantly, learn! Step out of your comfort zone, get curious, and get involved! Sing along, and meet local activist groups with good causes. Connect with others, and just maybe, connect with what you’ve been missing. Bring yourself, family and friends!

Welcome to 2015!
by Nigel Protter, Executive Director
2015 is shaping up to be a year of resolution for BC and Canada in energy. This is the year we should know if BC’s hyped LNG export scheme will finally see daylight before its supposed “opportunity window” slams shut due to competitive and price pressures. We’ll also learn whether shovels will turn for BC Hydro’s Peace River Site C dam megaproject, or if legal challenges will tug it into a side-channel.
Meanwhile, BCSEA will continue to pursue clarity on government’s heavily shrouded claims of the project’s cost effectiveness.

r51 [HumanRights] Je suis Ahmed Merabet
How many media outlets bothered to tell us that the injured French
policeman executed by terrorists on the pavement was a Muslim French
policeman by the name of Ahmed Merabet. These terrorists seemed like
professionally trained maybe by a state intelligence service and yet
“conveniently” forgot an identity card in the get-away car and are
killed not apprehended. The timing of this incident was suspicious.
First it came a week after France voted in the UN Security Council to
end the Israeli occupation that started in 1967 (i.e. with a
sub-minimal demand supported by International law). Second, the terror
attack happened just after the Israeli government said their largest
number of immigrants in 2014 came from France and they want more
colonial settlers. What came to mind is the bombing of Jewish
community centers in Baghdad in the 1950's that helped recruit needed
Jews for Israeli colonial activities. In that case...

Hi PAOV –
It's not every day one of your heroes tells the world what you mean to them. But yesterday, that happened to JVP. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, visionary leader of the anti-apartheid movement, sent the email below - asking you to stand with him in support of our unique approach to winning justice, equality, and dignity for all. It's absolutely worth your time to read his message below; there's simply no way any of us could make a better case for support. And I hope you'll consider a generous tax-deductible year-end donation today at jvp.org/tutu All the best to you in 2015, -Ari Wohlfeiler Development Director --------------------------------------- "When I look for strength and inspiration to bring true peace to Israel and Palestine, I look to Jewish Voice for Peace" Join Archbishop Desmond Tutu, support JVP today at jvp.org/tutu Dear PAOV, My greatest anguish is beholding what the Israelis are doing to themselves. We saw what apartheid did to the white people, making it possible for them to commit horrendous atrocities. In dehumanising others, they were themselves dehumanised in the process. I saw it in the callousness of young Israeli soldiers at checkpoints when they could decide to let an expectant mother desperately needing a hospital to deliver her baby go through, or not, as the whim struck them.
