It's a crisis within a crisis

NationBuilder r1

Paov --

It’s a crisis within a crisis. The workplace pressures of working through a global pandemic have seriously impacted the mental health of many front line workers and health care professionals.

Far too many workers cannot access the mental health supports they need. As a result, burnout, resignations and extended leaves of absence are hollowing out the workforce in essential sectors that are already understaffed.

On October 21st, the BC Health Coalition is bringing together a panel of frontline workers for an important discussion about the looming worker mental health crisis, and what we can do to better support workers’ mental health. Will you join this virtual event?

WHAT: Panel discussion: Healthcare and frontline workers’ mental health in the pandemic
WHEN: October 21st, 12:00-1:30pm
WHERE: Online using the Zoom platform https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_x2uwyrjYSuuHrIBfsTIz4w

What's next? We had a big win, but the fight is not over

We had a big win, but the fight is not over
We all celebrated last week's ruling by BC Supreme Court Justice Thompson, denying the request by Teal Cedar to extend the injunction. It was a big victory for our movement, and a testament to the strength and integrity of our team, both on the frontlines and in court.

But - the very next day, Teal Cedar filed a request for an expedited appeal, and requested that the current injunction order remain in place until the appeal is heard. We'll be in court next week to ensure this appeal is denied.

In the meantime, trees are still falling, arrests are still happening, and our peaceful battle continues. We have momentum right now; let's keep it up. “The war is not over. The B.C. government has issued lies saying they’ve stopped logging, while we can see trucks going by loaded with the trees we’re trying to protect.” - Pacheedaht Elder Bill Jones, Sept. 29, 2021

[Sjsall] Reconciliation is Still Dead: Rally for Wet'suwet'en

Dear Friends of SJS,

Reconciliation is Still Dead: Rally for Wet'suwet'en

https://www.facebook.com/events/200190552205282

On Tuesday, October 5th at 12.00PM we will be rallying at Centennial Square in support of the Wet'suwet'en nation in its continued fight against Coastal GasLink. After gathering together, we will then be marching to the Environmental Assessment Office at 836 Yates to bring attention to its role in abetting CGL's intentions to drill under the Wedzin Kwa.

As Indigenous people we honour and respect the will of the hereditary chiefs of the five Wet'suwet'en clans and demand respect for Indigenous law and sovereignty. As settlers, we seek to help take responsibility for the colonial institutions causing violence against Wet'suwet'en land and people.

CONTEXT:

Early in the morning on September 25th, in the face of continuing destruction of Gidimt'en land and sacred sites, members of Cas Yikh house and supporters took control of access to the site where CGL plans to drill under the Wedzin Kwa. Since, people have been tasered, arrested and harassed for enacting Wet'suwet'en law. Unlike the colonial government, we are listening to the five hereditary chiefs of the Wet'suwet'en and inviting people to come...
