Africa’s Black Star: The Rise and Fall of Kwame Nkrumah
“Africa’s Black Star” tells the political rise and fall of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s and Africa’s first independent president after colonial rule. The former President of Ghana Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was dubbed “the Man of the Millennium” by BBC World Service listeners.
The film covers Nkrumah’s phenomenal rise to power, Africa’s independence movement, his successes and losses, the internal and external enemies, the 1966 coup and the continuation of his legacy in Ghana and Africa.

Labour scholars today are debating the extent to which labour relations and the labour movement in China have changed, and where they may be heading. Positions are polarized between pessimists who emphasise the structural power of the market and the authoritarian state, and optimists who envision the rise of a strong and independent labour movement in China. Ford’s Attack on Local Democracy in Toronto
Socialist Project
Ontario’s new Conservative government, under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford, has launched a cynical attack on local democracy and government in Toronto.
Cutting by almost half the numbers of wards and elected representatives in the middle of an election campaign undermines the electoral process itself. It’s the kind of thing we would expect from an authoritarian regime and it would be roundly denounced if it were imposed in another country. It undermines the potential for Torontonians to fairly debate and make decisions that affect social, economic and political life in the city.

Disabled People in UK Lead Fight Against Austerity

On July 20, I was truly honoured to represent the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) at the International Deaf and Disabled People’s Solidarity Summit, in Stratford, east London that had been convened by one of our key allies in the UK, Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC). This powerful gathering was an important moment in the building of a resistance by disabled people as part of a broader international struggle against the forces of neoliberal austerity.
The Summit was called as a fitting response to an act of unbridled hypocrisy by the Tory Government of Theresa May. Two days later the Tories would be convening a "global disability summit" on the nearby Olympic Park site....

A new chapter in the history of the South African working class was opened in Soweto on 21-22 July 2018, when representatives from over 147 South African working-class formations represented by 1000 delegates assembled to unite workplace and community struggles.
It made huge strides forward to lay the foundations for building a new, independent, democratic and militant mass working-class movement to turn the tide against the attacks on jobs and living standards which are pushing more and more South Africans into poverty and despair.
