Wow. Bayer’s trying to overturn an EU ban on bee-killing pesticides -- if it wins it would jeopardise the huge progress we’ve made this year for the bees.
We need to prove there’s still massive support for the ban. Sign the petition now to tell Bayer that we won’t back down until it drops its lawsuit against our bees!
A,
Bayer’s just announced it’s trying to overturn a historic ban on bee-killing pesticides in court.

A,
To this day, the future is uncertain for the 463 children whose parents were deported by ICE without them. Their parents came to the US for the dream of a better life, and many have fled violence in their home country. Now hundreds of parents have been deported back to potential danger with no real hope of reuniting with their children.
So last week, we took the fight to end tech companies’ collaboration with ICE's deportation machine straight to Microsoft’s door.
Together with partners like Color of Change, the Tech Workers Coalition, Fight for the Future, and Coworker, we hosted actions at Microsoft offices in cities across the country to deliver a joint petition with 300,000 signatures from members like you. But that’s not all: a Microsoft employee hand-delivered a USB with the petition—including 500 signatures from Microsoft employees—to CEO Satya Nadella at an annual gathering at Microsoft’s Redmond, WA headquarters.
Nadella definitely got...

PAOV — They won!

PAOV — Lowe’s and Home Depot are taking a deadly chemical off their shelves. They made the decision after people like you took to Change.org demanding they take action to save lives. Now, with your signature, you can convince Ace Hardware to do the same.
Take a moment to read the amazing story behind two inspiring victories and then add your name to the latest petition in a movement to keep lethal chemical out of our homes:
“No family should have to lose a loved one because of deadly chemicals. Period.”
Those are the words Cindy and Hal Wynne used to start their petition after the death of their son, Drew. What started off as an unimaginable tragedy launched their mission to ban deadly chemicals sitting on store shelves across the country.
Drew, like countless people before him, was able to walk into Lowe’s home improvement store and...

The Lessons of the World Cup for our Victim Culture
Samir Gandesha
That we are living in an age of victim culture is well-exemplified by an article recently published by the CBC suggesting that minorities "feel apprehensive about heading into the wild because they don’t see themselves reflected in the outdoor industry and media." The underlying premise is that a paucity of representations of members of these groups constructs the outdoors as a kind of "unsafe space" of which people from these communities ask, according to the African-American author of a book called The Adventure Gap, James Mills, "‘Do I belong here? And if somebody believes that I don’t belong here, will they do something to harm me?’"
Now, evidence provided in the article...

Yanomami are dying of measles – please email

Your tweets and emails can help stop more Yanomami dying of measles.
Dear friend,
Yanomami Indians of Venezuela and Brazil are dying from a devastating measles epidemic.
One baby has died and the Yanomami speak of many more dead and dying in the forest.
The Yanomami, like many tribal peoples, have little immunity to Western diseases. Outbreaks of diseases killed a fifth of the Yanomami in Brazil in the past.
Survival and our supporters are lobbying as hard as we can to ensure the Yanomami receive the medical care they need to survive.
Your emails and tweets have already pushed the authorities into taking some action.

BC has just banned payment for blood and plasma, protecting the most vulnerable from predatory corporations and securing our blood supply for Canadians.
It’s time the federal government followed suit.
A,
A private company has started to harvest blood plasma from people in Canada, selling it at a massive markup on the international market.
Canadian Plasma Resources (CPR) was banned in Ontario when it tried to set up a blood plasma collection centre beside a homeless shelter and another next to a methadone...

We only have 1 day left to stop deforestation, ecological disasters and human rights abuse on palm oil plantations.
The main palm oil regulator, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, is consulting the public on its standards. It’s our last chance before 2020 to make sure reckless palm oil offenders are held to account.
A,
We finally have a chance to transform the destructive palm oil industry -- guilty of destroying rainforests, driving orangutans to extinction, and abusing its workers.
In a rare moment of transparency, the industry’s main certification body, the RSPO, is asking the public if it should strengthen its rules. It’s huge because massive companies...

Doug Ford is going to spend $30 million of taxpayers money to stop cap-and-trade in Ontario, protecting the biggest polluters from paying for their emissions.
Tell Doug Ford and his cabinet to drop the useless cap-and-trade lawsuit.
A,
It’s outrageous: Doug Ford just announced that he will drop $30 million of taxpayers money on a pointless joint legal battle to stop cap-and-trade in Ontario. Cap-and-trade put limits on how much climate disrupting emissions a company can produce and forces them to pay for...

Mexico: Violence, Corruption and Inequality -- AMLO to the Rescue?
Michael Roberts
The victory in Mexico’s presidential election of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), under the rubric of his relatively new ‘progressive’ Morena party, is both unsurprising and surprising. It’s unsurprising because AMLO had a huge and increasing lead in the opinion polls leading up to polling day. And Mexico’s 88 million voters (out of 127 million people) have now given him the biggest win in post-war election history, with over 53 per cent of the vote. The candidates of the establishment parties were way behind. For the first time, the parties of the elite and the status quo were split over who should be their standard bearer. And the sheer anger and frustration at...
