Its official: Kinder Morgan's review was rigged

In light of recent evidence, let’s take action to stop Kinder Morgan r1

Friends,

When I woke up yesterday, I did what I usually do these days. Slowly open my eyes, brew a pot of coffee, turn on the radio and pick up my phone to see the day’s news on the Kinder Morgan fight.

What I came across yesterday was astounding– a story in the National Observer that may well be the most important thing written about Kinder Morgan, or frankly, any fossil fuel project in Canada. The article, written by former Postmedia reporter Mike DeSouza, is a detailed investigation into Justin Trudeau’s approval of the Kinder Morgan pipeline that lays out the facts and makes a clear case that Trudeau’s review and approval of the pipeline was rigged from the very start.

If you only read one thing on...

The "New Turkey":
Permanent State of Emergency and the Dream of Absolute Power

Önder Kulak and Kansu Yıldırım

After declaring a state of emergency in the country, the decree laws of the government have replaced the law and therefore the constitution (already suspended partially) in Turkey.

The main aim of the government since the failed coup attempt is quickly avoiding the cases slowing down or hindering the construction of the new structure of the state. So that merging the security apparatuses and connecting them directly to the ruler has been undertaken. What is expected is to maintain the absolute power of the ruling party and to surpass the threats against accumulation of capital without any economic or political lost.

These aims were almost...

Revolution in a Warming World:
Lessons from the Russian to the Syrian Revolutions

Andreas Malm

It doesn’t take much imagination to associate climate change with revolution. If the planetary order upon which all societies are built starts breaking down, how can they possibly remain stable? Various more or less horrifying scenarios of upheaval have long been extrapolated from soaring temperatures. In his novel The Drowned World from 1962, today often considered the first prophetic work of climate fiction, J. G. Ballard conjured up melting icecaps, an English capital submerged under tropical marshes and populations fleeing the unbearable heat toward polar redoubts. The UN directorate seeking to manage the migration flows assumed that ‘within the new perimeters described by the Arctic and Antarctic Circles life would...

Pharmacare

On Wednesday, Parliament’s standing committee on health delivered a report that confirms everything we’ve been saying - truly universal, single-payer pharmacare is the most safe, fair, and cost-effective way to deliver the care people need. [1]

Advocates have been rolling this boulder up the hill for decades, and the new report delivers another push towards Canada finally getting a pharmacare plan -- so that we won’t have to choose between feeding our families or buying the medicine we need to stay healthy. But the cashed-up pharmaceutical lobbyists know we’re close to victory too -- and they’re spending big to block progress on pharmacare and preserve their profits.

Supa, the facts are on our side, but the facts are not enough. We need to show the federal government that there is overwhelming support for truly universal pharmacare. Sign our petition today -- and help us build on the momentum generated by this new report to demand single-payer pharmacare now.
