A, we are passing on this important message from our friend Sleydo’, spokesperson of Gidimt’en Checkpoint and Wet’suwet’en land defender (also known as Molly Wickham). Please read, RSVP, and share widely.
---
Dear friends, allies and comrades,
While we try to live out our daily lives and conduct cultural practices with our elders and children, police barge into our homes without permission — everyday, with at least six officers — intimidating us, surveilling us, illegally arresting, and detaining people on our own lands.
It's a story as old as the colonial violence against Indigenous peoples to steal land, resources, and wealth. The sad truth is, it’s what’s happening right now: They want to intimidate us off our land so Coastal GasLink can start drilling in less than one month under our sacred headwaters, Wedzin Kwa.
In March 2020, thousands of you took to the streets, railways, ports and highways to stand with Wet’suwet’en and demand Coastal GasLink cease construction. We made global headlines — forcing Justin Trudeau and John Horgan to commit to entering into discussions with Wet’suwet’en Hereditary chiefs.
But they haven’t made any progress with us on those title discussions, haven’t stopped construction and haven’t pulled RCMP or CIRG off of our territories....

PAOV — Petition starter Camille and her family don’t have a family doctor. They’re among an estimated 750,000 British Columbians lacking access to this vital first line of medical care. Camille’s husband and children have a rare genetic mutation, and the medication they take requires constant monitoring by a family doctor — something they no longer have easy access to, as aging doctors retire and struggling walk-in clinics close their doors. Camille is urging the government to do more to make sure everyone in British Columbia can access the care they need. You can help by signing the petition now.

Thousands of elephants left to starve

A,
When the pandemic shut down Thailand's tourism, thousands of captive elephants were shackled in chains and left to starve. Their keepers no longer able to afford to feed them.
But our friends at Save Elephant Foundation stepped in with an idea to save them -- help their owners transition from cruel circus camps to ethical elephant sanctuaries, supported by people around the world who want to foster an elephant.
It's working! At one business known for its circus show, 53 elephants now roam free, no longer forced to give rides and perform all day. But taking care of an elephant is expensive -- just imagine how much they eat every day! Plus vet care, security, and more. The foundation desperately needs funds to keep the project going.
Together, we can help give these elephants their freedom. Can you chip in to save these elephants and protect wildlife worldwide?

Paov,
The Trudeau government's decision to give Trans Mountain a $10 billion loan guarantee to support the pipeline expansion project makes no sense. Fossil fuels are causing the climate crisis, so funding more fossil fuel production means funding more extreme and more frequent climate disasters.
On the one hand, Trudeau’s cabinet ministers have been talking up plans to invest in climate adaptation and prepare Canada for the worsening impacts of climate change.1 On the other hand, last week, we learned that the Trudeau government approved a $10 billion loan guarantee for the Trans Mountain pipeline.2 In other words, they’re announcing an adaptation plan to prepare for the very climate disasters that they’re funding with projects like this.
At the same time as this Trans Mountain news broke last week, unprecedented flooding was forcing thousands of people in northern Alberta to flee their homes.3 It brought back harrowing images...

Nestlé is the 4th biggest plastic polluter in the world but wants us to believe that the environment is its priority...
No one is fooled!
Call on Nestlé to switch to reusable packaging now.
A,
Congrats to Nestlé for making it to the top 4 worst plastic polluters in the world for the 4th year in a row!
This is mediocrity at its best for the Swiss multinational.
Nestlé has announced that it is aiming for 0 emissions, including those linked to the production of plastics, by 2050. But as one of the biggest planet-destroying corporations, this isn’t nearly ambitious enough to stop catastrophic climate change.
If Nestlé wants to be credible, the company must act now!
Tell Nestlé to reduce packaging and replace all its plastic packaging with reusable ones by 2025.
It's the Break Free from Plastic Alliance that identified Nestlé as one of the world's biggest plastic polluters. For months, thousands of volunteers collected plastic waste...

7 vaquitas left

A,
The tiny vaquita porpoise is the most threatened sea mammal in the world. Fewer than 10 are left – pushed to the edge of extinction by illegal fishing nets that ensnare and drown them within minutes.
But there's a flicker of hope.
Scientists have discovered astounding genetic health among the last surviving vaquitas – meaning these beautiful creatures could fully bounce back if dangerous fishing practices end now. And we can help make that happen!
San Felipe in Mexico is the centre of the local fishing industry. And three amazing groups there are working flat out to equip locals with sustainable fishing gear that’s completely safe for vaquitas.
Already fishers are switching over, but with so few vaquitas left we need to act quickly. They urgently need money to buy safe fishing gear, train people on how to use it and get it onto fishing boats as fast as possible.
Can you chip in to protect the last 7...
