Pepsi and Nestlé are listening!

A,
Big news! Pepsi has just announced that it will stop buying palm oil from Indofood -- and Nestlé has ended a 13 year Joint Venture Partnership with the palm oil villain -- after huge pressure from hundreds of thousands of SumOfUs members like you.
Our people-powered campaign has pushed two of the palm oil industry’s biggest players into protecting our rainforests, the orangutans, and palm oil workers!
Thank you, A.
Despite the great news, we need to keep up the pressure on Pepsi until we obtain what we want -- a stronger palm oil policy that applies to all of Pepsi’s operations, including suppliers and business partners like Indofood.
Because punishing rogue companies like Indofood should be the rule, not the exception.

Politicizing Public Transit in Toronto
Umair Muhammad
According to the Toronto Star, the reason why the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is in such a lackluster state is because of "politics trumping sound transit planning." Wouldn’t it be great, the Globe and Mail asks us to wonder, "if we could get politics out of public transit?" Yes, answers the Torontoist, it really would be great: "Politics should be removed from transit planning." So, follows up the activist group Scarborough Transit Action, "How do we get the politics out of transit planning?"
The sway of politics in transit policy is blamed for incentivizing vote-chasing behavior. Instead of relying on expertise and evidence to arrive at decisions about transit infrastructure, those who occupy Toronto City Hall and...

A,
WE. JUST. WON. The CRTC just denied Bell’s dangerous application to censor the internet and force the end of net neutrality in Canada. And it wouldn’t have been possible without you.
The dangerous proposal would have allowed a few unaccountable corporations, like Bell, to blacklist sites. It would have put unprecedented control over what we view on the net in the hands of a handful of unaccountable, profit-driven corporations.
Luckily, you sprang into action against Bell and we won!
Help spread the good news about your people-powered win by sharing this news!
Members like you really did a lot to secure this win amazing win against Bell.
First, almost 100,000 members like you signed the petition calling for the end of Bell’s dangerous censorship plan. This immediately made it so...

Solidaires Score Important Breakthrough in Quebec Election
Richard Fidler
The October 1 general election campaign in Quebec unfolded as two distinct contests. One was the competition between the Liberals and Coalition Avenir Québec for control of the government. The other was a battle between the Parti québécois and Québec solidaire for hegemony within the pro-sovereignty movement.
In the end, the CAQ replaced the Liberals in government on a platform that claimed to offer "change" but in substance promises even more of the same capitalist austerity inflicted on the Québécois under successive governments since the mid-1990s. PLQ support is now heavily concentrated in its minority Anglophone enclaves of western Quebec.
The real change, however, was registered in the surge of support for Québec solidaire,...

They tried to exclude us -- now they cant ignore us

Dear friends,
Thanks to people like you, in just 4 days, the National Energy Board received over 3500 faxes demanding that the new review of the TransMountain pipeline consider climate change, marine protection, and Indigenous consent. Together, we’ve overwhelmed the NEB’s fax machine in Calgary to the point that they can’t keep up with the sheer volume of submissions.
With stacks upon stacks of comments piling up, it’s impossible for them to ignore our message -- and we have until tomorrow to keep the pressure up. Will you take a minute to click and fax the NEB telling them to fix the broken pipeline review process?
Why are we faxing our submissions instead of using 21st century technology? Well, it turns out that the easiest way to participate in the NEB’s process for public comments...

We must FIGHT BACK AGAINST THEIR ATTACKS ON PR NOW! Will you help?
Please read this email - it's never been more important
Dear FVC Supporter,
One of the first rules of campaigning is never to showcase your opponent's talking points. Today, I'm breaking that rule so you know what we're up against.
Scroll down to the bottom of this email to see just three of the ads the NO campaign is swamping social media with in BC. In communities from Victoria to rural and interior BC, we're hearing these messages at the door.
The claims in these ads are COMPLETE FABRICATIONS. There's no gray zone here.
Let me rephrase that. These ads are outright lies.
Elections BC doesn't investigate lies. Political speech is exempt from Advertising Standards. So opponents can say whatever they want to scare voters and ensure they keep first-past-the-post.
