Our chance

NationBuilder r1 Dear Paov --

Canada’s public health care landscape changed this week.

Together we sent a clear message on October 19th: we want federal leadership for better health care. Voters in 32 of B.C.’s 42 ridings elected candidates from parties that included big plans for improving public health care in their platforms, and many other ridings were close races.[1]

Now we need to push our new government to follow through on those commitments.

Can you send an email to Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau urging him and his party to act on their campaign promises?

Things are moving fast. Trudeau has promised to meet with the provinces to negotiate a major new health agreement that will greatly influence the direction of Canadian public health care in the coming years.[2]

That means the new federal government has some big decisions to make before meeting with the premiers.

As we have done for decades, we will continue to work with governments of all stripes to ensure Canadians have strong, lasting legal protection for nature and democracy.

What exactly does a Liberal majority mean for Canada's environment?

Yonatan Shapiro - Israeli peace activist in Victoria on Nov. 5/ 2015

A talk will be given by Yonatan Shapira here in Victoria on Nov. 5. He is co-founder of Combatants for Peace (CFPeace.org) and one of the 27 Israeli Air Force pilots who sent a letter to the Israeli minister of defense in the fall of 2003 stating that they would no longer fly missions over Gaza, as they considered the policy of targeted assassinations of Hamas leaders to be a war crime. He will be speaking in Victoria on Thursday, November 5, 2015.
Yonatan is a dynamic and empathic speaker with international recognition, who appeals to many on the spectrum of opinions on Israel/Palestine. He was prominently featured in the film "Little Town of Bethlehem" about nonviolent struggle to bring peace to Israel/Palestine.
