Resistance from coast to coast

Yesterday we saw record breaking resistance. Today, let's drive the message home. r1

Friends,

I’ve been fighting Kinder Morgan for over half a decade now and I have never seen such rapid and large-scaled demonstration of resistance to this pipeline.

Yesterday, thousands of people in more than 100 communities all across the country mobilized for snap actions to show Prime Minister Trudeau that he can’t dump billions of our tax dollars into Kinder Morgan’s climate wrecking, Indigenous rights violating, failing pipeline and tanker project. Now let’s drive that message home. Will you sign the petition calling on Trudeau to hold cross-country consultations on his Big Oil buy out?

The resistance to Kinder Morgan has come a long way and I'd like to thank you for everything you've done to be a part of it. Here are some of the highlights from the photos I...

Beekeepers at the Bayer AGM

A,

Bayer’s annual shareholder meeting was a PR disaster -- and it’s all thanks to you!

With the international spotlight of the world on Bayer, we made sure to get one message trending online on Twitter, into the press and right in front of the shareholders’ noses: Bayer’s profits come with a hefty price tag -- the massive global die-off of our bees.

With your help, we sponsored beekeepers' attendance at the shareholder meeting and directly confronted Bayer about its bee-killing pesticides. The beekeepers joined a group of incredible SumOfUs volunteers, and together we made our protests heard, handed out leaflets and staged a mock-funeral for “the last bee”.

Want to check out the action? Watch the video to see how beekeepers and SumOfUs volunteers crashed Bayer’s shareholder party.

You don't have Facebook? No problem, here's the video on Youtube.

Punitive Austerity: Ford, the Tories and the Coming Cuts

Natalie Mehra

Many Ontarians are captured by the idea of getting the same or more services for less money. But few know what the numbers might actually mean. Since Doug Ford [Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario] did not release a clear platform, Ontarians know more about how much a beer may cost if the Conservative leader is elected than they know about how much their hospitals may be funded. This is a serious problem because the numbers that Mr. Ford has revealed are disturbing.

On Wednesday in a radio interview, Mr. Ford said that he was going to eliminate the provincial deficit in three years. This is on top of major revenue...

BREAKING: 100+ communities rising to oppose the pipeline buy out

Let's drive home the message to Trudeau; we say no to a pipeline buy out. r1

Friends,

Today, people are rising all across Canada against Trudeau’s decision to buy the TransMountain project from Kinder Morgan with over $4.5 billion of public money. Over 100 actions at MPs’ offices are happening, and it all came together in a matter of days.

By making this decision, the Trudeau government has made all of us shareholders of the TransMountain pipeline project and they should be prepared to hear from us everywhere they go. While people take action at over 100 events today, will you join thousands of others in demanding public consultations on Kinder Morgan’s pipeline in every riding across Canada?

First-ever Agreement Between Amazon and Unions Halts Inhumane Work Hours in Italy

UNI Global Union

Amazon employees in Italy have made history. Workers announced on May 23rd the first-ever direct agreement between unions and the company anywhere in the world. The Italian agreement tackles inhumane scheduling, one of the core labour problems at Amazon fulfilment centres globally.

The deal, which is supplementary to the nationwide sectoral collective labour agreement, ensures fairness in scheduling through reductions in mandatory night shifts and distributing weekend work in a just way. Amazon is notorious for long hours, punishing quotas, and little break time during shifts. In some facilities, workers say they do not have time to even use the restroom.
